The NYIOP Auditions in New York City

Since early 2003 and several times per season the NYIOP Auditions bring together the general / casting directors of international opera houses with singers from North America in New York City and now also in San Francisco. For the opera houses the NYIOP Auditions represent an efficient way to get a comprehensive impression of the current U.S. market of opera singers while the singers get the chance to audition for a number of houses in one spot.

Europe, and specifically Germany with its incomparable density of opera houses, is a kind of ‘operatic paradise’ to most American singers, many of which, however, could not afford to go on a long audition tour from house to house on their own. Hence, the NYIOP Auditions bring the opera companies to the singers. This makes it possible for your house to hear a large spectrum of exceptionally talented American artists, including many that are working steadily throughout the U.S. and who would not have the time to audition in Europe.

NYIOP International will provide you with a travel stipend paid in either cash or via bank transfer to help offset the costs of attending the auditions and handle all organizational aspects of the auditions. We are proud to have hosted over 120 opera companies to date and to have had the chance to assist many of them in their casting endeavors.
