In the 2002-03, season, NYIOP changed the way the opera world auditions - instead of the singers having to go to the theaters, NYIOP brought the theaters to the singers - and it all began in New York City.
For our first NYC professional auditions of our 20th season, we will again start inviting LIVE casting directors to the audition PLUS we will Livestream those auditions to the world.
For 20 seasons, we have created and Recreated opportunities for artists to be heard - join us again in our 20th season and make NYC sing again!
IMPORTANT UPDATES FOR NYC AUDITIONS:
- Due to MANY requests by artists, NYIOP will NOT provide a pianist for this auditions. All artists must bring their OWN pianist. All attendees in the venue must pass COVID restrictions.
- The venue does NOT recognize negative covid tests as a proof of eligibility to enter the venue. This is a NYC regulation, not a regulation of Opera America. Therefore ALL attendees must either show proof of vaccination (Green Pass) or "have a letter from a medical professional stating medical exemption."

These auditions will be attended LIVE by a number of actual casting directors from professional theaters and will also be Livestreamed all over the world.
Given the world situation, it is impossible to predict how many theaters will be in Live attendance. However, we will list here both the Live attendees as well as those who confirm to take part online.
