The NYIOP Auditions are open to any professional opera singer, managed or unmanaged. Singers will be passed into the final auditions based on a variety of criteria, based on professional viability and usefulness to professional opera houses at a variety of levels. Final decisions are solely at the discretion of the NYIOP.

All singers will be heard in a Preview Audition and those who pass to the Final Audition will be decided solely at the discretion of the panel hearing them. This panel will include casting directors, agents and NYIOP staff.

The NYIOP Preview Audition Process

All singers will be heard in a NYIOP Preview Audition and those who pass to the Final Audition will be decided solely at the discretion of the panel hearing them.
Each singer who registers will be scheduled for a Preview Audition for the NYIOP Preview Audition Panel. The NYIOP Preview Audition Panel will consist a number of European casting directors, North American casting directors, agents and NYIOP Staff or invited consultants.
At the end of the Preview Auditions the panel will decide which singers will be passed on to the Final Auditions. Anyone passed from the Preview Auditions into the Final Auditions will not pay any additional fee.
All decisions by the NYIOP Screening Panel are final. All decisions of whom we hear at any period during the audition process are solely at NYIOP’s discretion. This includes the NYIOP Preview Auditions.
